Generation is an embodied immersive installation created for the exhibition Machines as Humans as Machines. The work explores how organic processes can manifest within digital systems: space‑filling algorithms grow inside a low‑resolution LED wall, forming living, evolving structures that respond to touch.
The visuals merge the aesthetics of biological tissues and electrical circuitry, reflecting two meanings of “generation”:
A) a community born into a similar cultural or social period,
B) a process through which new elements come into being.
Using a reaction–diffusion algorithm, the LED surface produces continuously shifting, self‑organising patterns. Visitors can influence the formation of these structures by touching the wall, altering the digital ecosystem in real time. The result is a hybrid visual language where PCB‑like motifs meet algorithmic growth.
Technical features:
Low‑resolution LED wall • Touch interaction • Multi‑layer generative system
